Barcelona explore new plan to keep Marcus Rashford

Marcus Rashford

FC Barcelona are exploring a creative option to retain Marcus Rashford as they struggle to activate the €30 million permanent transfer clause agreed with Manchester United.

The England international is reportedly eager to remain in Catalonia after rediscovering his form under Barcelona manager Hansi Flick.

Rashford has made his intentions clear to the Barcelona hierarchy, insisting he does not want to return to Old Trafford. Since joining the Spanish giants on loan, the 28-year-old has revived his career in La Liga, rediscovering the consistency and confidence that had faded during his final months in Manchester.

However, the path to a permanent move remains complicated due to Barcelona’s well-known financial challenges.
Despite the relatively modest €30 million buyout clause, the Catalan club’s financial constraints have made a straightforward transfer difficult, prompting sporting director Deco to explore alternative solutions that could satisfy both the player and his parent club.

Second Loan Strategy

Manchester United have reportedly maintained a firm stance in negotiations, viewing the €30 million fee as a bargain for the forward. Reports indicate the Premier League club informed Barcelona as far back as January that they would not consider offers below the agreed amount, as they aim to permanently remove the player’s substantial wages from their payroll.

In an attempt to break the impasse, Barcelona have proposed a second consecutive season-long loan, according to talkSPORT.

The arrangement would allow the Spanish side to delay the major payment while still guaranteeing Manchester United the full transfer value at a later stage.

It remains unclear whether the English club would agree to another temporary deal for a player they appear unlikely to reintegrate into their squad.
