Delta State Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan has charged players of Warri Wolves to win today’s CAF Confederation Cup match against MC MK Football Club of DR Congo. He said yesterday that Wolves should beat the visitors with enough goals to make the second leg a mere formality.

Delta State Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan has charged players of Warri Wolves to win today’s CAF Confederation Cup match against MC MK Football Club of DR Congo. He said yesterday that Wolves should beat the visitors with enough goals to make the second leg a mere formality.

Uduaghan, who visited the team for the first time in eight years, declared to the surprise of the players that he had fulfilled all financial obligations to the club for last season and wondered why the players are still complaining.

The Governor disclosed that the club’s money for this season was delayed because the budget was passed late, but assured that all their entitlements would be met next week.

Uduaghan, who was accompanied to the Warri City Stadium yesterday morning by the new Delta Football Association Chairman, Austin Jay-Jay Okocha, told the players that it was disappointing that they could not win any trophy for him throughout his tenure despite all he did for the team. He urged them to win the CAF Confederations Cup this season.

“I have decided to come and see you before the match on Saturday. I was told you are having some financial challenges but I can tell you that I have fulfilled all financial obligations for last season. As for this season, the budget was passed late but we shall get money to pay next week. You did not win any trophy for me even though I promised you cars. I would have loved to have a trophy to show for what I did for you,” he said.

Speaking earlier, captain of the club, Azubuike Egwuekwe, assured the Governor that they are ready to play, but have some financial challenges and assured the Governor of victory in today’s match.
