Chinese contingent key to Eagles success, says Ideye

Super Eagles and Tianjin Teda forward, Brown Ideye wants a return of the Chinese contingent to the Super Eagles ahead of the crucial World Cup qualifying double header against Cameroun next month.
Nigeria is atop Group F, having amassed six points from two games, while the Camerounians have just two points, but after the 0-2 loss at home to South Africa in the AFCON qualifiers, Ideye says he, as well as Odion Ighalo and Mikel Obi still have a big role to play in the race.
“It is going to be tough against the African champions when you consider their physical strength and their record against us, but that is why I think the coach should look at his list before he makes it public,” Ideye said.
“Mikel is the captain of the team and his inspiration is certainly needed. Odion is big and strong and can match the Camerounians strength for strength, while the team has not really struggled for goals since I have been in it.
“I either score or assist a team mate to score and this is because of my orientation that football is a team game so I always play well with my teammates right from when I starred alongside Emenike up till the Zambia and Algeria game when we all worked hard as a team to win.
“It is the prerogative of the coach though, but we have reached a point where our best players need to return to win this thing for Nigeria, as we cannot afford to miss out on the World Cup.
“I have played my part well, we all have. I want to be there to represent my country and I am sure we all do and we must capitalize on the understanding and experience of the likes of me, Mikel and Ighalo,” Ideye said.
Ideye admits that the Eagles have really difficult games ahead, adding, however, that they will overcome their foes.
“It’s going to be tough against the African champions but we just have to win at home before going there and I am hundred percent sure that we can win the game.
“It was sad to watch the game against South Africa from home and see that loss. I felt bad about the loss but that is by the way now.
“We just have to focus on the next game which is to win both legs against Cameroun.”
Ideye was in Port Harcourt last week on a one-week break but has since returned to China to continue the season with Tianjin Teda.
