Committee begins preparations for Leopard Ladies Tourney

The planning committee of the second edition of Leopard Ladies Tournament and Beauty Pageant slated for August has embarked on the preparatory process by inspecting Lafarge Golf Club, Sagamu where the unique event would be held.

Every participant for the epic golf tourney are expected to clad in leopard skin print attire, according to the organisers, who explained, “the idea is to show a desire to connect with nature, interact and enjoy the serenity of the lush green Ogun State course.”

The tournament, according to the Chairperson of the event, Mrs. Maureen Reece, is being sponsored by CMB Building and Maintenance Company, while Lafarge Cement Company, Andron Homes, Ufitfly and others are co-sponsors.

The high-class golf tournament was designed to focus at enhancing women empowerment and reaching out to women through golf.It would attract top lady golfers from across the country and the West Africa sub-region, as explained by the tournament coordinator and former Lady Captain of both Ibadan Golf Club and Tiger Golf club, Ms. Sumbo Oshile.

“Participants are expected much from outside the country, as many have signified interests from Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Gambia and Senegal,” said the coordinator.

The Chairperson of the event, Mrs. Reece also informed that the Lafarge Golf Club has demonstrated a strong will to host a good and memorable tournament going by the seriousness shown and high standard of the facilities put in place.

“The Leopard Golf and Beauty Pageant is not just one of a golf tournament like we used to, but a unique one put up to showcase our tradition.

“Wearing leopard print is a way of saying I am a woman, who is not afraid of being identified with African predatorily. It shows a desire to connect with nature, especially when we are increasingly urban,” Reece, a former Lady Captain of Ikoyi Golf Club noted.
