The president of the Nigeria Wheelchair Basketball Federation (NWBF), Seyi Johnson, has commended BetKing for supporting the growth of the sports in the country.
Wheelchair basketball, which is one of the fastest-growing para-sports in the country, has been boosted by the partnership and sponsorship from BetKing.
Johnson said BetKing has shown that it truly loves special sports with all it is doing for the federation.
“On behalf of the Nigeria Wheelchair Basketball, the entire board, and every stakeholder in the sport, I want to personally appreciate BetKing for all they are doing. Words are too few to express my sincere gratitude to them because they have really shown that this is where their mouth is, with the kind of support we are getting from them.
“When we approached them, it was just like they were already expecting us and they showed us that they truly understand the Nigeria Sports history and the role Special Sports have been playing in the country’s success at international competitions over the years,” he said.
Johnson added that wheelchair basketball needs more such support from corporate bodies to complement what the government is doing, “especially when you look at the restructuring and revamping going on in Nigerian Sports at the moment with the coming of the National Sports Commission (NSC).”
He revealed that the wheelchair basketball team has a good chance of qualifying for its first-ever Commonwealth Games in Glasgow next year when the qualifiers are held later this year in South Africa, adding that BetKing has been playing a major role in ensuring that this is achieved.
