DSTV-P.79-03-08-2015-CopyMultichoice of Nigeria’s General Manager (Marketing), Martin Mabutho, has said that the DSTV is on an impressive growth path, adding that the competition has the potential to champion holistic basketball development in Africa.

Speaking during the live screening of the first NBA Africa team versus the Rest of the World in Lagos at the weekend, Mabutho said, “Multichoice is delighted to view the NBA team Africa and team world Basketball game.

As part of our corporate social responsibility initiative, the company would not relent in sponsoring the Nigeria Basketball league. “Our objective is to build basketball and other sports to such a level that fans from other countries would be coming to watch games here.”

At the first NBA Africa game played in Johannesburg, South Africa, the world basketball stars defeated Team Africa 101 to 97 in a game watched by basketball fans around the continent. Team Africa, which included NBA players from Nigeria, Cameroun, Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal and South Sudan, gave the world stars, made up of mostly American players, a run for their money.

Former NBA stars, Hakeem Olajuwon of Nigeria and Dikembe Mutombo from DR Congo, made surprise appearances in the game at the second quarter.
