Eagles won’t lack support in Kaduna, says Ahmed Musa
Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, is confident the team will defeat Egypt in Kaduna in the first of the two vital games of the African Cup of Nations 2017 qualifying ties against the Pharaohs.
Speaking with TheCable on phone, Musa praised the team list of Samson Siasia saying: “I can say the coaches have come up with a good team list to select the final 23 from for the game.
Musa, who captained the Eagles to victory in the last game against Swaziland, expressed confidence in the ability of the caretaker coaches to lead the team to victory.
“The coaches selected by the NFF are very good ones. They know their job well and they are full of experience. Siasia coached the Super Eagles before. Salisu Yusuf has been with the team for a while now. Amuneke is also a very sound coach,” he said.
“With coach Alloy Agu, the combination is a very good one for the team right now. I am sure that we will do Nigerians proud in Kaduna and far away Egypt where the matches will take place.”
Musa, who scored a brace against Argentina at the FIFA World Cup 2014, said the Kaduna venue of the game is the best in terms of fans enthusiasm: “I don’t have anything against Kaduna being the venue of the game. In terms of fans, it is the best place for us to play right now. “The people will come out en masse to cheer us to victory that day, which we will be a morale booster for us.”
The CSKA Moscow striker assured Nigerians of victory, saying: “I am assuring all Nigerians that we will make them proud by God’s grace. We won’t disappoint them. They should support us with prayers and come out to watch us play.”
Meanwhile, the Pharaohs of Egypt have concluded plans to arrive in Nigeria on March 22 for the all-important Group G Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Super Eagles in Kaduna later this month.
Sources in Alexandria, Egypt, told Supersport.com that the team would hit Nigeria on March 22, three days before the clash as they seek to consolidate their lead in the group.
The team will gather in Alexandria, where they will go to Cairo and then connect a chartered flight to Nigeria.
However, the Egyptian authorities are trying to seek a special landing permit from the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to land in Kaduna.
The Egyptian advance party reckons it will be easier to land in Kaduna than Abuja, which translates to the Pharaohs taking an additional one and a half hour road trip to Kaduna where the game will be held.
The Super Eagles are second in Group G with four points after two games. Egypt leads the pack with maximum points from two matches.
Tanzania and Chad, who face each other back-to-back are in third and fourth place respectively.
