Federation Cup: Kwara United beat ABS FC in 7-goal thriller

Kwara United Football Club on Sunday at the State Stadium Complex in Ilorin beat city rivals Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC 5-2 to win the state’s Federation Cup.

Kwara United Football Club on Sunday at the State Stadium Complex in Ilorin beat city rivals Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC 5-2 to win the state’s Federation Cup.

Former ABS FC defender Akeem Onigbari fired home a shot from 25 yards to give the defending champions the lead in the 48th minute.

Ahmed Jimoh doubled the lead for the Harmony Boys in the 55th minute, curling home the ball from the edge of the penalty area.

Adeshina Gata made it three just two minutes after the second goal to put the game beyond their arch-rivals.

Jemilu Danjuma pulled one back for ABS FC, but Kwara United fought back to score the fourth goal through Chinedu Akuvou in the 79th minute.

Luqman Abdulhamid scored the second goal for ABS FC in the 86th minute, while it was the turn two minutes later of substitute Taiwo Abdulrahman to celebrate.

He celebrated with teammates after he scored the fifth goal to seal victory for Kwara United.
