Flying Eagles will not treat Sudan with kid gloves, Amuneke affirms

Flying Eagles Coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, has declared that the national U-20 team would confront the Sudanese team in the final round of the Zambia 2017 African U-20 Nations Cup qualifying series like wounded lions.

Speaking to The Guardian yesterday, Amuneke said the first leg of the qualifier, billed to take place on July 8 in Omdurman, will not be an easy nut to crack for the U-20 team because the Sudanese team will do everything possible to outshine the Flying Eagles despite Nigeria’s record in the cadet championship.

He revealed that the players in the team’s Abuja camp have been responding positively to training ahead of the encounter, stressing that his boys are equal to the task.

“I am not scared of facing Sudan in the qualifier because going by the commitment being displayed by the players, I think we will come out victorious in the game,’’ he said.

The first leg of the fixture will be played in Omdurman on July 8, while Nigeria hosts the return leg two weeks later.
