As part of its efforts to promote coaching education and equip trainers with the requisite knowledge and skills to develop budding footballers, the Football Coaches Association of African Nations (FCAAN) is offering free training to 2000 grassroots coaches across Nigeria.
The training programme, according to FCAAN, will focus on the elementary and foundation F-course and benefit 250 grassroots coaches across the five divisional football associations in Lagos State before moving to other states across the nation.
FCAAN said that the programme will commence in June 2025, adding that it is coming on the heels of the honours bestowed on its president, Dr. Terry Babatunde Eguaoje.
Dr Eguaoje recently received two prestigious awards from the Edo State Football Association, and Sportsville for his outstanding contributions to football development in Nigeria.
Speaking on the awards, an excited Eguaoje said that getting recognised in a clime where little or nothing is done to reward efforts means so much to him.
On the coaches’ education, FCAAN CEO, Danny Nazzal, explained that the exercise is designed to encourage more coaches to understand the importance of coaching education and embrace it for self-growth.
“We want to help coaches acquire the right knowledge and skills to develop young players,” he said.
