Idowu, Ogungbuwa, Samuel, Benson are Ibile Games’ MVPs

YINUSA Idowu, Morakinyo Ogungbuwa, Oluwadare Samuel and Ojoh Franka Benson at the weekend emerged the over all best athletes at the just concluded Lagos State Secondary Schools Sports Festival, tagged Ibile Games.

  The Ibile Games was held at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere.

  Yinusa Idowu of Mobolaji Bank Anthony Junior High School emerged winner in Gymnastics in the male category of the junior boys with five gold medals, while Morayo Ogungbuwa of Meadow Hall Lekki was the outstanding boys’ swimmer with eight gold and two silver medals.

  Questland College’s Oluwadare Samuel won in Chess with three gold medals in the senior boys category, while Ojoh Franka Benson of Ipakodo Senior Grammar School came tops in the girls’ swimming competition with seven gold and one silver medal.

  Speaking to The Guardian, an elated Yinusa Idowu enthused that hard work was the secret for his success, adding that he took out time to train in readiness for the competition despite the tight academic schedule.

   Reacting to her success, Ojoh Franka Benson said although the competition came unexpectedly as she was not really prepared for it, she said was determined to come tops, which made her to work harder in training for the competition.

  Aside the competition for able-bodied students, special students also participated in the event, with Wesley School (for deaf), State Junior Grammar School, Surulere, Do-estdot College, Idimu and State Senior Grammar School, Surulere emerging as the best deaf schools in athletics.

  In Taekwondo, Lucky Blessing of Ifako Comprehensive School emerged winner in the girls’ category and Faremu Ibraheem of Living Stone College won in the boys’ category. 

 Wesley Girls Secondary School’s Salau Basirat came tops in Basketball, while Ojo Ayomide of Ilupeju Senior Grammar School won in the male category. In Table Tennis, Sumer Zainab of Baptist Secondary School came tops while Sumer Qudus of Baptist Senior High School won in the boys’ category.

 In Lawn Tennis, Oyinlomo Quadre of Maryanne Secondary School won in the girls’ category and Stephen Augustine of Lafiaji High School came tops in the boys’ event.

  In deaf Table Tennis, Mutalib Badiru of State Senior Grammar School Itole was the best athlete in the girls’ category, while Yetunde Gege of State Senior Grammar School won in the boys’ category.

  In the deaf athletics, Felicia Ofogetan of State Senior Grammar School won in the girls’ category, while Friday Bolu of State Junior Grammar School came tops in the boys’ event.

  Grace Isaiah of Ajigbeda Girls’ Senior High School emerged the best in the girls’ category of Volleyball, while Gideon Tanno of Rockford International College won the boys’ category.

  In Hockey, Adeyemi Feyisola of Maryland Girls College was the most outstanding player in the girls’ category and Oluwatobi Daniel of Eric Moore won in the male category.
