Manchester United have confirmed that England defender Harry Maguire has signed a new contract that will keep him at Old Trafford until June 2027, with an option for a further year.
As reported by ESPN on Tuesday, the 33-year-old was due to become a free agent at the end of the season but has now agreed terms to extend his stay.
Maguire, who joined United from Leicester City in a reported £80 million deal in 2019, has made 266 appearances for the club, scoring 17 goals.
He has remained a key figure in United’s defence and has contributed to the team’s resurgence under interim manager Michael Carrick. His performances since January also earned him a recall to the England squad for the March international break.
Speaking on the new deal, Maguire said: “Representing Manchester United is the ultimate honour. I am delighted to extend my journey at this incredible club and continue to play in front of our special supporters. The ambition and potential of this squad is clear, and I am confident our best moments are still ahead.”
Manchester United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, praised Maguire’s leadership and professionalism, describing him as a player who brings “invaluable experience” to a young and ambitious squad.
The extension ensures United retain one of their most experienced defenders as they continue their push for major trophies in the coming seasons.
