Players and officials of Beyond Limits FC wore long faces on Sunday after dropping two points at home in their Nigeria National League (NNL) encounter against visiting Warri Wolves FC at Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne. Warri Wolves, led by Coach Napoleon Aluma, picked one point to maintain their grip on top of Conference A table.

The Seasiders’ defensive resilience was on full display as they kept the defending champions, Beyond Limits FC’s attacking forces at bay, despite the best efforts of top scorers Ekene Ohio, Oroh Ezekiel, Lateef Yusuf, and Igbunu Evwierhurhona.

With the result, Warri Wolves FC extended their lead at the top of the table to 16 points from eight matches, having won four and drawn four. On their part, Beyond Limits FC remains in third place with 12 points.

The General Manager of Warri Wolves, Neville Ambakederemo, told The Guardian shortly after the match that the team would build on the result, adding that their target is to gain promotion to the elite Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) at the end of the season.

“I give kudos to our technical crew and the players for securing a draw here in Remo even though we had the chance to win this game in the first half. The government and people of Delta State are sports loving people and we need a premier league club as soon as possible. As the season intensifies, we hope to build the team for the challenges ahead.

“I must also commend players and officials of Beyond Limits FC for their attacking football. These players actually impressed me. They have a good future ahead of them. The officiating is very good. It shows that our league is growing,” Ambakederemo stated.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Delta Sports Commission, Onoriode Oborevwore, has commended players and officials of Warri Wolves FC for the draw against Beyond Limits FC, just as he urged them to up their game against Ijele FC in Matchweek 9.

Oborevwore, who spoke with The Guardian, yesterday, from Port Said in Egypt, where Delta Queens hockey Club are contesting in the Africa Hockey Championships, said Warri Wolves must focus on the match against Ijele FC on Sunday, February 16 at Ozoro Township Stadium.

“I have commended the players and their officials, for the draw at Remo, and I have told them to look forward to the next match,” he said.
