Opebi School Wins U-13 Football Contest
OPEBI Primary School has emerged winners of this year’s Indomie Noodles U-13 Fab-5 Football Challenge, beating tournament’s favourite, Ebute Metta Primary School 3-1 in the final of the third edition decided at the Campos Mini Stadium in Lagos.
Earlier, Ebute Metta had walloped Jubril Martins Primary School 4-0 to book a place in the final, while Opebi humbled Bola Memorial Primary School 2-1.
Meanwhile, Bola Memorial Primary School triumphed over Jubril Martins Primary School via penalties to place third.
At the award ceremony, Ukwa Emmanuel of Ebute Metta Primary School was adjudged the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP), ahead of Tosin Dairo of Bola Memorial Primary School who came second and winning the Golden Boot award after scoring a total of five goals, while Opebi’s Lateef Qudus was picked as third best. All three will be enrolled into the second tier of the Fab-5 Initiative, which is the scholarship and mentoring programme.
According to the Fab-5 Project Manager, Dare Amokeodo, the three best players of the tournament will join the likes of Taiwo and Kehinde Rahmon and Alabi Adams who were also present at the Grand finale.
The Fab-5 Football Challenge is organised by Pet-Bamok & Company and Sportvision Nigeria Limited and its powered by Dulfil Nigeria Limited, makers of Indomie Noodles.
According to Fab-5 Project Director, Deji Tinubu: “The project is aimed at discovering and developing a new generation of sportsmen and women, who are prepared for not only great careers, but a wonderful life after their careers”.
