Registration opens for inaugural F2G Cup 2025 football competition
Registration is now open for the inaugural Footprints to Greatness (F2G) Cup, a groundbreaking football tournament aimed at transforming grassroots football and equipping Lagos youth with life skills and career opportunities.
Open to athletes aged 16-25, the competition will cover the IBILE zones—Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island, and Epe—featuring both men’s and women’s teams in a knockout format.
F2G founder and FIFA-licensed agent Babajimi Ogunlana described the event as more than just a football competition.
“This tournament is about empowerment, mentorship, and career growth. We’re providing young athletes with the tools to succeed both on and off the pitch,” he said.
Sola Rogers, Chairman of the organizing committee, emphasized the tournament’s commitment to fairness and transparency.
To maintain a competitive balance, players from the NPFL and NNL are excluded, though NLO players are eligible.
Teams must register by March 30, 2025, with fees set at NGN 40,000 for men’s teams and NGN 20,000 for women’s. Each team can submit a roster of up to 25 players and five officials, supported by a National ID, LASRRA ID, and passport photo.
Matches will follow an 11-a-side format, and the top three teams from each division—plus one wildcard—will advance to the round of 16.
Beyond football, F2G offers participants the opportunity to enrol in one of 18 vocational programs at 20 skills acquisition centers across Lagos, providing practical training to enhance future employment prospects.
Building on the success of the F2G symposium held on February 27, 2025, the tournament promises to redefine grassroots football in Lagos—offering young athletes both a platform to showcase their talents and a pathway to long-term success.
