NATIONAL U-23 men’s football team coach, Samson Siasia, has invited Christian Obiozor of Kano Pillars and Kingsley Sokari of Enyimba Football Club of Aba to fortify the team as preparation for the team’s first game against Gabon hots up in Abuja.

Explaining his decision to take the players, the coach said he was impressed by what these players showed during the just concluded Glo Premier League Super Six invitational tournament in Abuja, and feels they can add quality to the team.

“I have always said this team is work in progress, and as such any player who has shown that he can add value to the team will sure be invited to the team because the technical crew wants to build a team Nigerians will be proud of.

“For now, one of our greatest challenges is from players whose clubs are involved in continental engagements. We have barely 18 days to our first game, and our club sides in the continent also have crucial first round games almost at the same time; so it will cause distractions for us. But we have to balance things, for just as we need these players, so also their clubs need their services.”

Siasia, however, appealed to the clubs to understand his team’s situation so that there will be no conflict of interest.

Expressing satisfaction with the standard exhibited by his wards during the pre-season tournament in Abuja, Siasia commended the LMC for inviting the national teams to be part of the event.
