DIRECTORS of sports from across the country, who just completed the International Olympic Committee/Nigeria Olympics Advanced Sports Management Course held in Lagos, have commended the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) for the foresight in bringing the course to Nigeria.

The commendation was made during the closing ceremony of the fifth session of the course that ended at the weekend at the NOC boardroom.

Course facilitators, Professor Clement Fassan of the Lagos State Universities and account at ANOCA Headquarters Abuja, Jonathan Dyagas, equally commended the NOC executive committee, led by Habu Gumel, for the initiative and prayed for more of such courses, which they believe will put Nigerian Sports administrators at the Zenith of their career.

Professor Akeredolu Oluwole, who joined the facilitators in accessing the participants’ projects, pleaded with the NOC to increase the number of participants in the next stage of the course, saying it is a big plus for country.

Among the course beneficiaries were a director at the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hauwa Kulu-Akinyemi, Okere Emmanuel, Salami Abiodun, Ukpong Joseph Essien, Umudu Joseph Obey, Ezebube Barth Eberechukwu, Lizzy Onyenwenwa, Amina Amanchi, Iheanacho Samuel B., Edward-Dappa Rachael and Dr. O’Neill Charles Bassey, among others.

Speaking at the event, NOC President, Habu Gumel, who was represented by the Secretary General, Babatunde Popoola, described the course as exceptional due to the presentations by professionals, who showed complete understanding of what the course was all about.

He charged the participants to go back to their various offices to exhibit their new knowledge, saying that it was only through such conviction that the NOC would be spurred to bring more of such courses to Nigeria.
