3SC-PA former IICC Shooting Stars player, Rafiu Salami, who was in the team that won Nigeria’s first continental club laurel, died in early hours of yesterday in his Elebu-Oluyole extension, Ibadan home. He was aged 73.

“He has been sick for the past two months but the physician advised us to move him back home when his case seemed hopeless. He gave up the ghost moment after getting home this morning,” one of his children said.

Speaking on Salami’s death, FIFA/CAF Technical Instructor, Chief Adegboye Onigbinde, described the deceased as a cool headed and complete gentleman, who always showed high degree of commitment to any assignment given to him.
