A former Super Eagles midfielder, Edema Fuludu, on Wednesday, predicted a 2-0 victory for Nigeria in the March 25 Gabon 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Egypt in Kaduna.

Fuludu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the players must strive to play as a cohesive unit against their uncompromising North African opponents.

“With the calibre of players in camp, the enthusiasm is very high, I believe we can beat them 2-0, I believe we have what it takes to win in Kaduna.

“As long as they play as a team, I believe they will come out victorious, and more importantly, they should listen to their coach’s instructions.

“If the players play cohesively, it will be evident in the result which will be a welcome development. We believe that with focus they will get all the needed points to qualify,” he said.

Fuludu, who was a member of the victorious Super Eagles squad that won the 1994 edition of AFCON in Tunisia, added that the Super Eagles must impose themselves on the Egyptians.

“The Egyptians are tough but not like before, they are living on past glory, and if we can hold them to a 2-0 win here then we must tighten up in the return leg.

“I believe we will hold them to a draw in Alexandria,” Fuludu said.

NAN reports that the Pharaohs are currently topping the standings in Group G with six points while the Super Eagles have four points.

The winner of the group would automatically qualify for the tournament while the runners-up would strive to qualify through a play-off.
