Gateway United Football Club of Abeokuta will play in the Nigeria National League (NNL) 2014/2015 season with 26 players, officials of the Ogun State government-owned club have revealed.

The club at the weekend unveiled the players registered for the season, which kicks off in less than to weeks, to the media and other football stakeholders at the M.K.O Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta.

At the event also attended by officials of the Ogun State Ministry of Sports, all the players were introduced with their different jersey numbers.

Addressing the team and other stakeholders, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mrs. Moyosore Olowonmi, said even though Gateway United is owned and financed by the government, the Ibikunle Amosun administration has resolved to reposition the club for real business.

She, therefore, called on corporate organisations, local and foreign sports entrepreneurs, as well as interested foreign clubs and well meaning individuals to key into the club through branding, sponsorship and other types of collaboration.
Earlier, the General Manager of the Club, Prince Adetunji Onatolu, said the management of the club was mindful of the mandate given by the state government to get the club promoted to the Premier League, assuring that all hands were on deck to make the mandate a reality.
