Proprietress of Golden Bunch Schools, Okota and Yaba, Lagos, Mrs. Modupe Ogundimu, has explained the schools’ decision to hold an annual inter-house sports competition for its pupils, saying the competition would help promote sporting activities and build team spirit among the pupils and staff members of the institution.

The school held its second biennial inter-house sports last Thursday at the Unilag Sports Centre, Akoka, with Red House emerging as champion ahead of Blue, Yellow and Green Houses. Blue House, however, took first position in the march past.

Speaking at the event, Ogundimu said the facilities in Unilag had afforded both the pupils and teachers the opportunity to engage in health-beneficial activities outside the school environment.

She added: “This gives us a way out of the school. The main objective of organizing this event is to promote sporting activities and teamwork among pupils and teachers of the school”.

Ogundimu also revealed that the event was to promote healthy lifestyle among the children, and provide a veritable ground for them to exercise, especially the obese, which may not have had such opportunity prior to the event.

According to the administrator, the move was also geared towards inculcating in the children the spirit of sportsmanship, entrepreneurship and success attitude through social interaction.

Asked what informed the establishment of the 13-year-old institution, Ogundimu said her passion for raising an outstanding generation in godliness and excellence navigated the cause, urging other children to be part of this great dream of hers.
