I feel great for Australian Open, says Serena

Serena-in-white-CopyWOrld number one, Serena Williams, says her body is feeling great ahead of her Australian Open defence.

Speaking to the Herald Sun, Serena said that her troubled left knee is okay and that she’s ready for the Australian Open.
“My body is feeling great now,” Serena said.

“Obviously I had a hiccup but right now it is doing much better. I have had a few days of training so it’s looking good,” she added.

Serena hasn’t played an official WTA match since her stunning loss to Roberta Vinci in the US Open semifinals four months ago.

Williams has been practicing in Melbourne since retiring in the team competition a week ago. The reason given was a knee injury that her coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, has indicated is a chronic problem.
