Iroegbu explains decision to host Marvico Badminton Championship

Youths in Imo State and its environs were treated to a mini sports festival in Obazu Mbieri, which hosted the fourth Marvico Badminton Championship. The competition ended yesterday.

According to the organisers, the competition at the Marvico New Mega factory complex is aimed at discovering talents and nurturing them to limelight, as well as providing succour and keeping youths of Obazu-Mbieri busy during this festive season.
 
Powered by Peace and Mentorship Foundation, led by MD/CEO of the MARVICO Group, Udu Nnamdi Iroegbu, this is the first time the championship is played indoors with newly imported complete sets of badminton equipment.

This edition also witnessed an increase in the prize money and allowance for the over 150 participating players, the organisers announced.

Apart from badminton, Iroegbu revealed that the festival featured other indoor games like scrabble, ayo and draught, adding that the aim is to turn the programme into a mini indoor sports fiesta for Obazu Mbieri community.
