Iwobi On Target, As Arsenal Beat ‘Rusty’ Lyon 6-0

Iwobi-Back-pg-21 02 15Nigeria-born striker, Alex Iwobi, scored his first goal for Arsenal as they continued their preparations for the new season with a 6-0 friendly win over Lyon.

The 19-year-old winger, who is the nephew of former Bolton forward, Jay-Jay Okocha, capped an impressive first half with Arsenal’s third goal.

Olivier Giroud, Aaron Ramsey and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain were also on target for the Gunners in the first half.

Mesut Ozil netted a fifth on the hour before Santi Cazorla’s late strike.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger dismissed suggestions on Friday that he could sign almost any player in the world after club director Lord Harris said he has the backing  to break the club’s transfer record for a top striker.

If this performance, albeit against a rusty Lyon side, is an indicator of their potential in front of goal this season then Wenger may well elect to leave the money in the bank.
