Lagos sports journalists have described the demise of ace broadcaster, Felix Okugbe, as a painful and irreplaceable loss not only to the association, but also to the entire world of sports.

In a statement by signed by Fred Edoreh, the journalists lamented that it watched helplessly as Felix Okugbe began the descent to the yonder with his condition defying various medical attention, including surgery in India and passionate critical support at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).

“We are pained. We feel a deep sense of loss but we give God the glory that Felix distinguished himself both nationally and internationally as a hardworking and excellent sports journalist with deep passion for sports promotion and development. His commitment to the profession and to sports was total. Death cannot take that honour from him.”

The journalists commended the Chief Medical Officer, the management and Public Relations Officer of LASUTH for their “wonderfully kind support and commitment in first receiving and creating a bed space for Okugbe and then putting all frantic efforts with the hope of saving him.”
