Leicestershire-based Michael Eshiett dreams Flying Eagles call up

17-year-old Michael Eshiett, a Nigerian-American currently making waves as a youth player in Brooke House Football Academy, Market Harborough, Leicestershire, United Kingdom, says he wants to wear the green-white-green jersey of Nigeria.

While in Nigeria, the young Eshiett played for Regents Secondary School, scoring several goals for the institution in secondary schools competitions.“I am tall, physically strong and determined and have great presence in the teams I play for,” the 6ft tall striker/winger said in a message to The Guardian during the week.

Born on June 26, 2000 in California, USA, Eshiett had his General Certificate Examination (GCE) success in Science, English, Mathematics, Information Technology, Business and Physical Education, and is currently completing a University Foundation Course at Brooke House College in the United Kingdom. He will graduate in June this year.

Eshiett said he was looking forward to featuring in the Nigerian national teams, beginning with the U-20, the Flying Eagles.“Since I moved to Brooke House College in the United Kingdom, I have scored over 50 goals in competitive soccer in four years,” he said. “I am excellent in the air, in the defence and attack, which means I am a danger at set pieces in the attacking third.”

Apart from his ability to score goals, Eshiett says he loves creating chances for his teammates to score. “I have pace and strength which I use to great affect bringing my teammates into play as well as having the confidence to use these attributes for my own benefit. I am dangerous going forward, and I have pace and trickery to get past defenders creating chances to score goals.

“I have a great left foot and am able to play both short and long passes effectively. I can show a talent with the ball at my feet in tight situations and can turn defenders inside out with my dribbling skills. I am a team player, and I am respected by my teammates. They always miss me whenever I am not on the pitch.”
