ORGANIZERS of the 2016 18th Milo Secondary School Basketball championship, have assured that this edition would be tailored towards discovering more promising basketball players at the grassroots level.

Speaking in Lagos at the weekend, Managing Director and chief executive of Nestle PLC, Dharnesh Gordhon, stated that the basketball tournament, which preliminaries and finals will dunk off across the country from February 22 to 26, will feature over nine thousand secondary schools from 32 states.

Gordhon explained that sponsoring the Milo basketball over the years had assisted children to learn the skills on how to persevere through hardship and work as a team during their formative years.

“The finals will be held in Delta State (Asaba). We decided to shift from Lagos to afford other state share from the glamour of the championship. Milo will not relent in sponsoring grassroots championships in Nigeria. Interested schools should get the registration forms from their various state ministry of Education. The tournament is for children that are 17 years below,” he said.

Chairman, Delta Sports Commission, Tony Okowa, stated that the state would work hard to provide all logistics and support needed for the fiesta.
