THE Main Organising Committee (MOC) for the forthcoming Go-Round Secondary School Athletics Championships slated for Port Harcourt has declared the facilities provided for the competition ready to host the event.

Speaking after going round the facilities at the University of Port Harcourt yesterday, the MOC Chairman, Honour Sirawoo, said he is satisfied with the accommodation arrangement for the athletes and officials for the event, which Go-Round is sponsoring in conjunction with Rivers State sports journalists.

Sirawoo said the accommodation facility could house 552 athletes and officials from the 23 Local Government Area of Rivers State.

He assured intending participants at the Go-Round Secondary School Athletics Championships of their comfort, adding that the MOC has provided adequate security to protect lives and property during the championship.

The facilities inspection was led by the chairman of welfare and accommodation committee, Mr. Peter Abaje, who disclosed that arrangement has been made for participants to get pep talks and some mentoring from elite athletes and coaches during the championship.

Meanwhile, some former international athletes and coaches have praised Go Round and Rivers State journalists for embarking on the championship, saying it would help the country discover talents from the grassroots.

Former National and African 100 meters champion, Endurance Ojokolo, who met the team at the high-performance centre in Uniport, promised to attend the event and also make herself available to give pep talks to the students.
