The buses meant to ferry athletes and officials to and from the venues of the Go Round Rivers State Secondary School Athletics Championships.

Athletes and officials of the maiden Go Round Secondary School Athletics Championships, which begins today, were ecstatic yesterday when three vehicles meant to convey them to and fro the venues of the competition were delivered to the organisers.

The sole financier of the competition, Bro Felix Obuah, donated the three fully air-conditioned buses to the Main Organising Committee, led by Honour Sirawoo.

Presenting the buses to the MOC, Special Assistant to Obuah, Prince Anselm Chukwu, charged the organisers to ensure a successful competition, while pledging the sponsor’s resolve to ensure the comfort of the participants.

Thanking Obuah for his gesture, Sirawoo assured that his vision for pioneering a secondary schools championship in Rivers State would be actualised through the successful organisation of the championships.

He called on other well-meaning Nigerians to emulate philanthropists like Obuah in the development of sports in the country, especially at the grassroots level.

The two branded 30-seater Toyota Coaster buses and one 18-seater Toyota Hiace bus were unveiled and commissioned for the competition at the Ernest Ikoli Press Centre, Port Harcourt.

The MOC Chairman revealed that the opening ceremony will hold tomorrow, while the closing and medals presentation will hold on Thursday with Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, as special guest.
