Former three division world champion, Shane Mosley, has won only one fight in the past five years dating back to 2010, yet the 43-year-old wants rematches against Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Oscar De La Hoya, Miguel Cotto, Manny Pacquiao and Winky Wright.

In other words, Mosley wants rematches against guys he either was beaten by or had close victories.

Interestingly enough, Mosley doesn’t see himself as a shot fighter despite the fact that he’s lost four out of his last six fights. Mosley’s record in his last six fights is 1-4-1. The 12-round draw that he received in his fight against Sergio Mora in 2010 was highly controversial with many boxing fans feeling that Mora deserved the victory, not Mosley.

If you count that as a defeat as well, then Mosley has lost five out of his last six fights. That would appear to be a pretty good sign that he is a shot fighter.

Mosley will be making a comeback next month on August 29 against 41-year-old Ricardo Mayorga in a pay-per-view fight at The Forum in Inglewood, California. “My mindset is to beat all the guys that beat me…You have Mayweather, there’s Pacquiao, there’s Winky still out there if he wants to come back? Canelo?” Mosley said via Fighthype. “I love the rematches. I want a rematch with Cotto.

I love the rematches. If he wants a rematch, let’s do it. If Oscar wants the rematch, let’s do it. Whoever wants the rematch, I’m all for it.” Mosley compares himself with 50-year-old Bernard Hopkins, pointing out that he’s still fighting at his age, so why should he be considered old if a guy as old as Hopkins is still fighting.

The difference, of course, is the fact that Hopkins continued to fight at a high level in his late 30s and 40s. Mosley hasn’t done that. He’s looked like a shot fighter for the past 10 years since he was in his early 30s. In terms of ring skills, Mosley didn’t age as well as guys like Floyd Mayweather Jr., and Hopkins.

While Mosley doesn’t look particularly old physically, his hand speed, reflexes and work rate don’t appear to be anything like they once were, at least in terms of Mosley’s last fight two years ago against Anthony Mundine. Mosley didn’t look at all good in that fight against Mundine in getting stopped in the seventh round. •Culled from www.boxingnews24.com
