.Executive Martial Arts Academy grades students

The Lagos State Taekwondo Association Chairman, Jummy Ogunnowo, has stated that the association is currently planning to partner with the Korea Cultural Centre (KCC) to teach students taekwondo in schools.

Speaking at the taekwondo grading exercise organised by the Executive Self Defense and Martial Arts Academy held at the Pitch Court, Lekki Phase One, at the weekend, Ogunnowo said that taekwondo at the grassroots level need to be improved to uncover more talents from their formative stage.

Ogunnowo, who extolled the martial arts academy for training and churning out quality taekwondo athletes for the country, stated that encouragement would be given to taekwondo academies in the state to be more effective in grooming potential stars.

“Lagos State is delighted that the Executive Martial Arts Academy is grading taekwondo athletes on a black belt and other classes of belts. This shows that more people are taking part in the sport.

“Lagos State Association is going around the taekwondo academies in the state to encourage and support them in any capacity. We will also work with other organisations to promote the sport,” he said.

Emadomi Wilson, Aka Ratata of Wazobia FM 95.1 fm who was among the Taekwondo athletes that was graded with Black belt at the event, said that his new grade would improve his skill in self-discipline and commitment to respect people.

He added that as an on Air radio personality, his target is to be a professional Taekwondo star and represent the country in future at International engagements.
Blessing Nwakanma chief instructor and co-owner, Executive self defense & Martial Arts Academy, said that the mission of the Academy is to train people on self-defence and also groom talents that will represent Nigeria in International events.

She also added that the grading event which was for adults and children was successful.

One-time Commonwealth Gold medalist, Shola Olowookere who was present as an instructor at the grading event commended the Martial Arts Academy for giving more Nigerians the opportunity to learn Taekwondo.
