Nigeria’s Power Lee seeks support of Buhari, Okowa for battle of Yaounde

Power Lee wants to be Africa’s new heavyweight wrestling champion.

Power Lee wants to be Africa’s new heavyweight wrestling champion.

Pro Wrestling Africa (PWA), the body responsible for the organization of the much-talked about battle of Yaoundé in Cameroun, says the bout featuring Nigeria’s heavyweight champion, Ikpide Godspower, popularly known as Power Lee and his Camerounian counterpart, Michel Noudem ‘Le Matrquer’ on September 19, will be a big boost for the sport in the continent.

The battle of Yaoundé 2015 will hold at the famous Palaise De Sports in Cameroun’s capital city. Apart from the bout involving ‘Power Lee’ and ‘Le Matrquer,’ wrestlers from other African countries, including Ghana, Liberia, Mali and Congo DRC will also battle for supremacy.

According to the secretary of Pro Wrestling Africa (PWA), Olusesan Olukoya, the battle of Yaoundé is timely and of paramount importance.

“Our efforts now are geared towards having a real African wrestling champion and PWA with its headquarters in Yaoundé, Cameroun has taken the bull by the horn to promote this fight,” Olukoya said.

At a press conference held in Lagos, attended by executive members of PWA and top sports personalities, Nigerian heavyweight champion and titleholder, Power Lee said he would beat the Camerounian heavyweight champion and title holder ‘Le Matraqueur’ like a baby.
“It is not a mere boast,” Power Lee said. All I need is for my country to prepare me mentally and financially for the fight.”

To achieve his dream of becoming African champion, Power Lee is seeking support from President Muhammadu Buhari, his State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and other organisations like the Isoko Development Union, Isoko people in Diaspora, NDDC, DESOPADEC and well meaning Nigerians.

If Power Lee wins the battle of Yaoundé on September 19, he is mandated to defend it in Nigeria within a month.

Power Lee, who operates a modern gymnasium, ‘Winners Body Fitness Gym’ in Ajah, Lagos, where he has produced many weightlifters, wrestlers and boxers for the country, says he is ready for the big challenge.
