RUGBYNigeria national rugby team, the Stallions, have booked the ticket for the 50th edition of the All Africa Games and the Olympics qualifiers after winning two games and losing same at the Africa Cup North Rugby tournament qualifiers staged in Togo at the weekend.

Nigeria started its campaign on a bright note by beating Mali by 36-0 with Christian Ogar of Cowrie RFC and Ikechukwu Onwukanjo scoring two tries each, while U.K.-based Danjuma Msheila and Alfred Oche weighed in with a try apiece to bring the points to 30.

Black Stallions’ captain, Azeez Ladipo, also contributed his own quota by converting three penalty kicks to put the final score at 36 points in favour of Nigeria.

It was a different situation against tough Morocco, who outplayed the Nigerian team 21-7, but the Stallions recovered to beat Ivory Coast 14-5 in the third game.

Technical director of the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF), Fasimoye Olatunji, told The Guardian yesterday that the AAG qualification would spur the Stallions to success in the final qualifier for the Rio 2016 Olympics in South Africa in November this year.
