
Among some of the players that stormed the team’s camp in Uyo are Abass Rabiu of El-Kanemi, Moses Oche of Enugu Rangers, Christopher Lolo of Katsina United and Gabriel Okechukwu, who played in the Turkish league last season amongst others.
Akwa United had released four players and will be interested in getting replacements but the management of the club has insisted that only quality players would be given opportunity to join the team.
Speaking on the development, coach Abdu Maikaba said: “We are not rebuilding the team, rather, we are working to block the loopholes created by the exit of those that were dropped. That is why the emphasis is on a quality goalkeeper, perhaps two strikers and a defensive midfielder.”
The Technical Adviser also prayed for the quick recovery of injured skipper Otobong Effiong, Hassan Babangida and Moses Ebiye saying: “In this second stanza, we will need everyone to be available.”The first match of the second stanza will be a return fixture against MFM of Lagos.
