Obiano picks NAN’s former sports boss, Nezianya, as SA Media

Willie Obiano has named veteran sports journalist, Mr. Tony Obiora Nezianya as one of his Special Assistants on media. Nezianya, whose appointment took effect from August 1, 2017, has been seconded to the Anambra State Ministry of Information and Strategy.

He brings to his job a 34-year experience from the services of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) and the Echonewsng.com. Nezianya retired from NAN as Director/Head of the Sports and the Lagos Metropolitan Desks and had served as Zonal Manager in charge of the five South East states, at the NAN regional headquarters in Enugu.

From this vantage position, he was named as Media Officer of Team Nigeria to the 2003 All Africa Games staged by Nigeria in Abuja, at which Nigeria hosted and eventually emerged as champions by topping in the overall medals table.

He served as leader of the Nigerian delegation to the Afro-Asian Games in Hyderabad, India in 2003, as well as Head of Media, Team Nigeria, to various other Games, including, the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, England, the 2006 Melbourne Games, the 2004 Athens Olympic Games in Greece and the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games in China.
