Oliseh will come with foreign technical assistant, says NFF

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) yesterday revealed that former Super Eagles’ Captain, Sunday Oliseh, will come to the senior national team with his own foreign technical assistant if their current negotiations in London sail through.
The federation yesterday confirmed that its president, Amaju Pinnick, is currently in London to hold talks with the former Super Eagles’ defensive midfielder over the vacant job.
The federation at the weekend sacked Super Eagles’ coach, Stephen Keshi, for allegedly violating ‘core terms of his contract.”
According to the federation, the latest move was prompted by the “encouragement of a team of the NFF Technical and Development Committee that is working on filling the vacant position.”
It added that Oliseh met with Pinnick in London on Tuesday.
“An offer has been made, and there is understanding, but we have to work out the final details of the agreement in a few days. Of course, the Executive Board has to give approval for his appointment based on the final terms to be agreed,” said Felix Anyansi-Agwu, chairman of the NFF Technical and Development Committee.
The federation revealed that Oliseh will come with a foreign technical assistant, whose job description will centre around development programmes, and who will work with Clubs’ Youth Teams and certified Academies towards developing the game from the grassroots.
Current stand-in Coach Salisu Yusuf will also be in the new team, but with greater devotion to the home-based team, otherwise known as Super Eagles B, and will be the interface between the technical crew and the home boys.
Oliseh is expected to come up with a five –year developmental plan to fashion a unique playing and coaching philosophy for all the national teams, and will for this purpose, interface regularly with coaches of those teams.
“We are also looking at how he will periodically organize clinics and seminars for coaches of Clubs in the Nigeria Professional Football League, probably once in a month, so as to strengthen the playing philosophy across board. A robust youth development programme, elite player development strategy and performance programmes to drive higher standards, among other core sustainable development programmes, are also part of the proposal,” Anyansi-Agwu added.
NFF President Amaju Pinnick said: “Sunday Oliseh has vast experience and immense knowledge of the game, and will certainly add value to what we are doing. He has bought into our vision and objectives towards the development of Nigeria football. He will command the respect of the players and we trust he has the temperament to work harmoniously with the Technical and Development Committee, the Technical Directorate and the Technical Study Group.

Why was the meeting held in London?. I thought that Mr Oliseh, going by his name, is a Nigerian. He is applying for job in Nigeria and in the UK. Does he need a Nigerian Visa to travel to Nigeria to enable him attend a job interview?. So, let him apply for one.
Mr “Picnic” or is it Pinnick, please do the right thing always. If the NFF have decided to employ a foreign coach, it’s all well and good, let all interviews be held Nigeria. After all, the place of employment is going to be in Nigeria.

I think this Pinnick man is either confused or simply loves picnic. The last time he was in London to negotiate with Coaches there to release players for the National team, as if that is the job of NFF President. Then he went back to negotiate a Sponsorship deal that will only have the National teams advertise Nike’s products and nothing else, no monetary value (As if no one in Nigeria can buy boots and print Jerseys, when it comes to that). Now in his wonderful way of thinking, he is in London because the NFF should be applying for Oliseh and not Oliseh applying for the Job. I hope someone is keeping record of his blunders and the attendant cost. With him so far it has been a lot of academics leased with mediocrity. Nothing else!
I agree that Oliseh has acquired experience. I also hope his untamed temperament as a player has improved.

What is the obsession with foreign personnel? Why is that the most important issue for these fools? If you named someone with a track record in the game who just happens to be foreign then I might understand but to keep harping on about there being foreign technical assistants without naming them or stating their credentials suggests that there is something deeply wrong with those involved in the hiring process.
