Organisers plan award ceremony, as S’West Rugby League ends tomorrow
The last round of matches of the 2014/2015 South West Rugby League season sponsored by CMB Building will end tomorrow at the main bowl of the National Stadium, Lagos.
In one of the games slated for the final day, second placed Racing RFC will be fighting to earn the maximum point to consolidate their position on the log and also book a place at the national playoff when they take on Royal Stallions of Ilorin, who have already secured their top flight status next season despite winning just two games against relegated Eco II RFC.
However, the main battle of the day will be between league champions, Cowrie RFC and third placed Police RFC, who will be going all out to secure victory and hope that Racing will lose to grab the second position in the league.
Speaking ahead of the match, head coach of Cowrie RFC, Joseph Ofoha, said despite emerging league champions, a victory against Police will be good enough to revenge their 2013 final loss to the same opponents at the Independence Sevens tournament.
The organisers, while announcing the last match day schedule, also disclosed that immediately after the last game, there would be a brief award ceremony where cash rewards will be presented to the League winner.
The awards include the Most Valuable Player of the league, highest point scorer and fairplay award for the deserving team.
