Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has described the death of Amodu Shuaibu as a profound loss to the nation.

He noted in a statement that his death was coming just days after the death of another former player and coach, Stephen Keshi. According to him, Nigeria had lost yet another dedicated public servant who worked tirelessly to bring honor to our country.

His words: “Indeed his life was dedicated to finding and grooming Nigeria’s best soccer talents and providing them the leadership and guidance with which they excelled.

“Amodu Shuaibu’s work as national coach of Nigeria’s national team brought gladness to the nation and fulfillment to many. His legacy is secured in the memories of Nigerians who will forever recall the exploits his teams recorded across the African continent and around the world.

“On behalf of the people and government of Nigeria, I wish to express our sincere condolences to the family of Mr. Amodu Shuaibu on this loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. We pray for God’s consolation.”

Also, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, who condoled with the nation over the exit of Amodu, according to a statement from his office, described the late former Super Eagle coach as “a true nationalist, who dedicated his lifetime to serving his nation.”
