‘Cycling for Community initiative to raise new generation of cyclists’
Organisers of the just-concluded ‘Cycling for Community’ charity cycling fiesta, FXTM Nigeria, which brought together over 90 riders nationwide have explained that the event is aimed at inspiring a new generation of cyclists for the country.
FXTM Nigeria brought together cycling enthusiasts from across the country for an exciting charity event, which drew riders from Rivers, Kwara, Oyo, Ogun, and Lagos states to compete in the spirit of sportsmanship and community engagement.
The event featured six categories, including professional male, professional female, junior male, junior female, veteran male, and veteran female, offering opportunities for cyclists of all skill levels to compete.
The Juniors completed 10 laps, veterans tackled 14, while professionals raced an impressive 20 laps, with each lap spanning 2.8 kilometres.
At the end of the event, outstanding riders got various cash rewards with winners in the professional categories receiving N500,000, N300,000, N200,000, and N150,000 for first to fourth positions respectively. Others from fifth to 15th positions were also rewarded with N50,000 each.
In the junior male and female categories, winners earned N150,000, N100,000, and N50,000 for the top three spots. Veteran winners took home N250,000, N150,000, and N100, 000 for first, second, and third positions respectively.
Speaking at the event, stand-in Country Representative for FXTM, Kelechi Ehibudu, said: “FXTM is delighted to sponsor this Community cycling charity event. With its resounding success, this event has set a new benchmark for community-focused initiatives in Nigeria. FXTM’s dedication to blending sport, charity, and empowerment has left a lasting impression, inspiring many to look forward to future events.”
