Navy Sailing Club to mark anniversary with birthday boat race

The Navy Sailing Club is set to celebrate its anniversary with the highly anticipated Birthday Boat Race on March 29, 2025, at the club’s base in Ojo, Lagos. The event promises a thrilling display of sailing skill, teamwork, and community spirit.
The annual race will see an impressive fleet of sailboats—including dinghies and keelboats—navigating the waters in a friendly but competitive atmosphere. Open to sailors of all skill levels, the race is a celebration of the club’s rich legacy of excellence and a platform for members to test their abilities.

Beyond the excitement of the race, participants will have the chance to sharpen their sailing skills by competing alongside seasoned sailors. They will also expand their network by strengthening friendships and making valuable connections within the sailing community, while also embracing the club’s values of camaraderie, sportsmanship, and service.
In addition, top sailors will be honoured with awards at the event.
Speaking ahead of the event, Vice Commodore of the Navy Sailing Club, Captain Chima S. Sampson, urged members, families, and friends to take part in this memorable anniversary celebration – whether as competitors or spectators – that is expected to be an electrifying day on the water, filled with excitement, skill, and a shared love for sailing.
