With the euphoria that trailed the just concluded Ikeja Ladies Open Golf Championship yet to subside, the Ladies Section is once again in for another big event as the 2015 edition of the annual Valentine tournament has been scheduled to hold at the club next week.

Speaking ahead of the competition, which would be played over 18-holes on Wednesday, the former Lady Captain of Ikoyi Club, Bola Cusworth, said her desire is to use the tournament to unite the family and preach love using the valentine celebration as a means to achieve her aim.

She also used the opportunity to thank the tournament sponsor, First Bank, for their support over the years.

“Valentine season is a time to give, share, and show love. To us as lady golfers, we use the opportunity to preach love and unite the family and with the help of First Bank, the competition has been very successful,” Cusworth said.

The host lady captain of Ikeja Golf Club, Dr. Veronica Chaka-Awatai, while expressing her joy that this year’s edition of the tournament would be played in Ikeja, said it is even more gratifying that the event is taking place during her tenure, adding that she would wish the next edition of the tournament be played in Ikeja.

The 2015 Valentine tournament is a mixed kitty and it is expected to draw golfers from Ikeja, Ikoyi, Dolphin, Lakowe Lakes clubs and its environ. The golfers appear in Red and White dresses.

This year’s event is being organized by Cusworth, Dr. Awatai and Chinyere Alamu.

Ever since its debut over 10 years ago, it has been played in Abeokuta, Sagamu, Ikoyi, while the 2015 edition would be played in Ikeja.
