Pogba in fresh controversy

Paul Pogba is at the heart of new revelations to emerge from the latest Football Leaks investigation, with the Manchester United star’s image rights in the hands of an offshore account.

According to a report from Mediapart as part of the ongoing series, Pogba is at the centre of an open war between two agents
Walid Tanazefti and Mino Raiola.

The player’s brand was moved from Luxembourg to Jersey, a tax haven in the English Channel that has been described by Football Leaks as a ‘fiscal paradise’.

The latest discoveries – which made the front page of French daily L’Equipe yesterday – also include the extent of Raiola’s wealth, with the agent reported to have made €10million (around £8.4m) from the three years Pogba played at Juventus. 

This is made all the more staggering when one adds the £24m paid to the super agent for his role in negotiating the move to Old Trafford in the summer for a record fee.

Pogba – who became the world’s most expensive player when he moved to United from Juve for £89m – was discovered at the age of 13 by Tanazefti and the midfielder’s image rights had been owned by him since 2014.

The Frenchman signed a clause, which handed over 15 years worth of image rights to Tanazefti through a Luxembourg company, but Raiola bought these rights back and has moved the Pogba brand to Jersey just after he signed a new sponsorship deal with Adidas, reportedly worth between £20m and £35m.
