Postponed 2015 National Women Cricket Championship to hold soon
The Team Manager, Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF), Joseph Eshua, on Monday said that the postponed 2015 National Women Championship would hold immediately the body has access to the required funds.
Eshua told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the 6th edition of the championship which was supposed to have held in 2015 was postponed due to paucity of funds.
“The federation has not forgotten about the women national championship and we are still very much on it.
“The problem we are having now is the issue of an account we can operate with because of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) system that we have in the country.
“Also, we have yet to receive financial assistance from the International Cricket Council (ICC) for this same reason.
“We are assuring that immediately we get access to funds, a date will be fixed for the championship,’’ he said.
NAN reports that five states have qualified from preliminaries played in the five geopolitical zones in November 2015 to feature in the event.
The states are Rivers, Oyo, Anambra, Kaduna and Abuja.
NAN also reports that Rivers won the 5th edition of the championship in 2014.
