Power Lee, who hails from Akie-ewhe in Owhe Community in Isoko North Council of Delta State, became African
Heavyweight Wrestling champion by defeating Michel Noudem of Cameroun in Yaoundé on September 19, 2015.
He is expected to defend the title before the end of the first quarter this year. And Irakpo is optimistic that Delta State would host a successful bout with an astute administrator like Okowa in charge of sports in the state.
He described Okowa as a good sports administrator with excellent character, who has also excel in all spheres of life.
Irakpo, who is the CEO/MD Silec Entertainment Concept, saluted Okowa’s resolve to take sports back to the grassroots and fish out raw talents, adding that the new leader’s plan to source for funds from the private sector will put Delta sports on the right path to success.
“What is killing the development of sports and its administration today is the absolute dependence on government revenue without
effort to generate funds from the private sector.
He described the Okowa and Okowa concept as a good combination to help in achieving the “SMART” agenda which gives the youth opportunities to develop their potential and eliminate vices such as drug abuse, joblessness, prostitution, kidnapping and armed robbery, among others.
On the African wrestling championship, tagged ‘Return Of Glory Delta 2016,’ to be held on March 6, 2016 at the Asaba Stadium, Irakpo said Power Lee is ready to defend his title against Marvelous Buffalo of Angola.
He added: “ Since 1987, the wrestling lord is still standing tall and no one dares him without having a painful and bitter story to tell.
“The National and Africa Champion titleholder is a good product which I will continue to sell to the world as far as professional wrestling is concern.”
