Former Flying Eagles coach, John Obuh, has stated that the call for the sack of Super Eagles manager, Gernot Rohr, in some quarters would not bring changes in the Eagles.

Obuh, who noted that lack of sustainable football pattern was the bane of Eagles’ failure at the ongoing Russia 2018 World Cup, called on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to map out a well-tailored programme that would ensure quality players are continually discovered and monitored at the domestic and international levels to play regularly for the team, this he said would enable the coaches draw out a formidable formation that would stand the test of time.

The former national U-17 coach said the approach of Rohr in picking players within a short period of time to prosecute matches, would not help the Eagles to meet high expectations replicated by big teams at the World Cup.

He said that getting the right pattern to succeed in international tournament like the World Cup, comes with hard work and resilience.

“Eagles failed in Russia because the team lacked a formidable playing pattern.

The system where Rohr within a short period of time selected players to prosecute matches is not coaching.

“There have to be a sustainable mechanism that would be used to select and monitor players at all levels.

This players would be coming together at any given time to play for the coaches to build the team with the right formation.
