Serena hosts Charity fund Ultimate Run

Serena-in-white-CopySerena Williams, hosted the second annual Serena Williams Live Ultimate Run at the weekend , bringing people from all walks of life together to compete in a variety of races – including a quarter marathon and a 5K run-walk – all in benefit of the Serena Williams Fund charity.

Hundreds and hundreds of participants hit Miami Beach for the run, which started and finished on the world famous Ocean Drive. And there was much, much more than just the run – there was a health and fitness expo on Saturday, and food, drinks and live music at the post-race celebration on Sunday.

Williams also ran the race – well, almost. After 2K of the 5K race she cabbed it to the finish line.
“I didn’t run the whole way this year, but next year I will!” Williams said in this Facebook video:

Venus Williams, who’s in the Top 10 with her sister for the first time since 2011, finished the race.
Among the goals of the Serena Williams Fund – which all participation in the race benefited – are helping individuals and communities affected by violence and ensuring equal access to education. Culled from WTA.COM
