FC Taraba held hosts Sharks to a 2-2 draw in a Week Seven game of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) yesterday.

Sharks now have seven points from as many games, while Taraba have eight points.

The hosts started the game on the high, getting the curtain raiser in the third minute when Thompson Stowe struck with a shot from the edge of the box off Ibrahim Salawu’s assist.

In the 29th minute, the visiting Taraba got an equaliser from a penalty kick converted by U-23 star, Usman Mohammed. The penalty call was as a result of a foul by Ofem Inah, who pulled down a goal-bound opponent inside the vital area.

Just four minutes into the second half, Sharks restored their lead through Chiamaka Madu, who scored after Taraba defenders fail to clear a loose ball. In the 72nd minute, substitute Chinedu Ohanachom scored to level scores at 2-2.

In other games, Wikki Tourists bashed Enugu Rangers 4-2 in Bauchi, while Heartland suffered their second home loss, this time to Sunshine Stars, who beat the Owerri side 3-0.

Giwa FC continued their impressive start to the season with a 3-1 defeat of Bayelsa United in Jos, just as Dolphins turned back Lobi Stars by 2-0.

Enyimba of Aba, which finished second in the league last season lost to newly promoted Gabros 2-0 in Nnewi, the same result Nasarawa United recorded against Abia Warriors in Lafia.

Defending champions, Kano Pillars, lost by a lone to Kwara United in Ilorin, just as El Kanemi Warriors beat Akwa United by the same margin.
