Debutant, Ultimate Synergy FC and Moonluck FC have qualified for the quarter final stage of this year’s Lagos FA Cup. The Ultimate Synergy FC humbled 36 Lions FC 4-2 on penalties while Moonluck FC defeated Spartans FC.

By these victories the two teams have sealed qualifications for the quarter final stage of the competition decided at the Agege Stadium, Lagos.

The pulsating round of 32-game had ended goalless at full time before Synergy Ultimate Strikers beautifully netted four of their resultant penalty kicks as against two by the 36 Lions.

Synergy Ultimate Striker’s boss Chinedu Ogbenna dedicated the win against 36 Lions to their ex-star, Victor Osimhen, now set for a professional career at German Bundesliga side, Wolfsburg.

According to Ogbenna: “We are indeed happy for the progress in the Lagos FA Cup and Victor Osimhen is the big inspiration for all of us. We are certain that there are many more Osimhen here at Synergy Strikers and we have vowed to work harder.”

In the match of Moonluck FC and Spartans FC, which ended 1-0, the Oriade LCDA-based side tutored by Coach Godfrey Esu, a professional division two side achieved victory through striker Christopher Powel, who converted a penalty kick in the 11th minute to give his side the needed win.

Spartans FC of Agege playing on a familiar turf at the township stadium threw everything in their arsenal including the kitchen sink so as to overturn the one goal deficit but could not stop their opponent from claiming all three points and cruising into the quarter-finals of the Lagos FA Cup for the first time.
