Tottenham holds talks with Real Madrid over Bale’s return to ex-club

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is weighing up a move to bring Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale back to North London after holding talks with the Spanish giants, according to reports.

Bale, who moved to Spurs from Southampton in 2007, left for Madrid in 2013 and has enjoyed a decorated spell with Los Blancos having won four Champions League titles among other trophies.

However, his relationship with the club has deteriorated in the past few seasons, with there said to be issues between himself and boss Zinedine Zidane.

What’s more, Bale angered the Madrid faithful by displaying a flag saying ‘Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order’ while on international duty earlier this season.

The 30-year-old has only made 14 appearances this season having almost moved to the Chinese Super League in the summer.

According to Spanish football expert Juanfe Sanz – speaking to El Chiringuito TV – Spurs chairman Levy has been in talks with Real president Florentino Perez over a potential deal this month.

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is a long-term admirer of Bale having been keen on bringing the Welshman to Old Trafford while he was Manchester United boss.

Spurs are in the hunt for a striker this month having lost Harry Kane, whose injury will keep the England captain out until April at the earliest.

Previous reports have claimed that the likes of AC Milan’s Krzysztof Piatek are on the club’s radar but fresh reports have indicated that the North London side are thinking about a move for Real’s Luka Jovic.

Jovic joined Madrid from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer but has only made 18 appearances so far this term.
