Enyimba 367Enyimba’s captain yesterday demonstrated his new found goal scoring touch when he netted a 75th minute goal to lead the ‘Peoples Elephant’ to a 2-1 home victory over 3SC in Aba.

The 2-1 win increased Enyimba’s lead on the table to five points. They have 61 points from 33 games, while closest rivals, Warri Wolves, who were forced to a 1-1 draw by Enugu Rangers, have 56 points.

Enyimba took the lead in the 14th minute through a Musa Najere’s header off an Uwadiegwu Ugwu’s corner. But 3SC drew level 11 minutes into the second half through Ajani Ibrahim. And just when Enyimba supporters thought their team would drop two precious points at home to the Oluyole Warriors, up popped Udoji with his own header off an Ezekiel Bassey cross in the 75th minute.

In other games played yesterday, defending champions, Kano Pillars, beat Sunshine Stars 2-1, Sharks defeated Wikki Tourists 2-0 to further secure their safety, just as Akwa United helped their survival effort with a 1-0 defeat of Abia Warriors.

Dolphins of Port Harcourt got further down the relegation ladder when Giwa FC defeated them 1-0 in Jos, FC Taraba beat Heartland 1-0, Lobi sank Kwara United 2-1, with Bayelsa United losing ground at home in their survival battle as they were beaten 1-2 by Nasarawa United.
